I really thought the team would cut rotations after a loss like they just had, not double down. I get it, it's probably reverse Jedi mind tricks, but when Campbell was making everything on an obvious push late in the game and ECU had no answer, why still at that point? It had been another bad game and you could feel the momentum changing, This player did get the hook after another three-point shot dinted the rim 9 seconds into the shot clock, with 3:27 to go. This was the obvious time you need to kill the clock. Even then he was back out there a minute later when the game was down to 6 points. I don't understand what that player has done to earn the start or be in the game in crunch time when ECU is blowing a 20-something point lead down to 6 points. I've never seen numbers like this player accumulating starting and playing serious time this far into the season.
Moving on, I think it was a good move to start Ausar after the last game, that seemed deserved. I think he's good, and gives ECU upside, but I still think gets up way to many shots. If you take out the explosion on a bad SC State team, mostly when the game was out of hand he's shooting 36% from the floor. That doesn't stop him from getting shots up like he's Hakeem Olajuwon. I don't think he averaged but about 10ppg on his high school team or a guy you want getting up a shot every 2 minutes. I like what I've seen on defense and rebounding , and even the aggressiveness, but I don't think you want him as the offensive hub. 11 shots in 22 minutes this game.
Overall it was nice to bounce-back and get a win. Felton was great, Small found a way to contribute and get some points even when the field goals weren't dropping. It was nice he didn't force them either and found open teammates like Felton and Walker. The attention he still drew was likely why they had as good of looks. Walker had a great game. I'd have liked to seen Johnson play a few more minutes, he's still playing great.
Diboundje getting benched and only playing 6 minutes is weird. He's been good relative to most of the players on this team. I've never seen a player pass up as wide-open lay-up as he did early, but I still I think taking a three early in the shot clock when it's time to kill clock was a worse mental lapse, and multiple players made those. ECU won, it worked but these are the inefficiencies I think get you beat vs better teams.
