"Campbell is projected 328th by Torvik. I could certainly see Carraleo giving the ECU post-players issues with his passing. It's a team with nice post players and upside in a spot ECU projects to be weakest. At home, should still win.".
Those were my summer notes about Campbell when I was working on the season predictions. The two post players that concerned me on this team are probably concerning for the ECU coaching staff. Lusane didn't play much last year but was productive when he did, and has stepped his game up in a bigger role. He's also up to 240 now.
I thought Campbell seemed better than what Torvik had them ranked in the preseason, and currently, he has them ranked 220th at 4-3. Their best win so far App State. They also only lost by 6 to NC State at RBC. ECU is projected to be about a 2 to 3 point favorite by his system at home.
Here are Campbell's rotations.
Carralero's not been as productive as he was last season so far only averaging 2.6apg, still a very good number for a PF/C. Last year in 25 minutes a game he averaged 3.9apg which is what I was referring to in the summer notes. He has the ability to assist at point guard rates and ECU is likely to see offense ran through him assuming he plays.
ECU may catch a break since he didn't play the last two games. I'm not sure if he's injured or how badly. There aren't many Campbell basketball resources and their game notes don't list him as out.
The Fighting Camel's offense and defense are both pretty mediocre nationally. They do shoot well from three, making .384% (42nd nationally) on pretty solid volume. That's a concern after how SC State got three's up against the pirates. We'll see how the team bounces back. All seasons they have been resilient when they got down big, we'll see how they respond in the macro taking a loss like that. It's a scary game now after SC State and could be a turning point game on how bad it can get.
