EXCELLENT rotations. This is exactly what you want to see. Start your 5 best players and the 5 players that you clearly feel the most comfortable with and are playing 30+ minutes anyway. Maximize the good and build chemistry. That's how you continue to improve. There also seemed to be some break glass with getting Tabbs on the court today as well. What do you really have to lose playing him over Bayela moving forward? It's good to see him help some. I still trust Tabbs and Diboundje more than the rest of the bench, and you still got to have some minutes from your bench.
Any win you can get on the road is always a good win, and this one makes up for the squandered loss at home to depleted/bad Temple mostly. Just when you think this team is turning into the pumpkin most expected they decide to play well again. That's a good sign, and they will need it as it is about to get real and obvious which way this thing starts to trend over the next 3 games. Today was a good first step.
ECU really needed this one, so it came at a great time to get the best win of the season and beat a solid #113 NET team on the road in a difficult atmosphere like that. That's also a good sign that the team played that well with 7,000 fans against them. It's a real college basketball fanbase and one of the toughest places to play even if the team isn't peak Shockers currently.
The season is half over now and they seem to have found the core 5. Ride them and let them build chemistry. Good solid win. Winning by 10 on the road vs a quality team like that should really help the NET ranking which took a hit. and dropped from 167 to 188. I'm curious to see just how much they jump back up after this one. ECU's not had a lot of chances for quality road wins and you get rewarded for both margin of victory and more for it being on the road.
This was a great win and it does seem that Coach has settled on the 6 to 8 players that he trusts to put on the court. So very happy to see Javon and RJ come back from their horrid shooting against Temple, and I thought Ludgy was a contributor today and I'm very happy to see that. Still a little strange with how Coach plays Walker and Benyala and how he decides when to play Tabbs, but I'm going to leave those questions to you. Again, great win and the team looked very pleased in the postgame lockerroom video. I think they are gelling and getting more and more comfortable. Looking forward to the UCF game.
ReplyDeleteI only was able to see the second half. This was a big win. Love that Tabbs was healthy and able to contribute. Really want Quinton in the lineup for a few. But Schwartz can coach and beating WS for the first time ever is impressive. Remember Dooley's first year, we are light years ahead of that. For the first time in decades I feel like we can at some point make a real postseason.
