We'll McCarthy never lost to a MEAC team, and Stokes only lost to a MEAC on the road. He's right though this will go down as one of the worst losses in ECU history. Yes, McCarthy lost to an NAIA team but one that was 34-3 and went to the NAIA Final 4, It had 4 D1 transfers, more than this current ECU team. One included Boris Diaw's brother who started a few games in the ACC, and a 10ppg scorer from the MVC. No one ever remembers that part. I think this might be a worse actual team ECU just lost to than that one. They had nothing but walk-ons when their coach was hired in July I think the announcers said.
Dooley lost to #322 NET ranked MEAC team by 10 points with Gardner and Newton. I still think that one is worse.
That person also went on to say Dooley didn't lose to other teams like that. (Torvik's rankings for ease of finding them.)
This is the kind of revisionist history I fully expected to come out when the season went south. Sorry, I have to continue to say his name at this point but that seems to be the debate on 247.
This is certainly one of the worst losses in school history. I didn't even bother to do a preview because they were so bad I thought it would be a waste of time. Not much else to say about this one. It's bad.
